Good Morning St. Mary’s 👋.
Easter came and went. Now things pick up. This weekend’s got history, food, music, and enough going on around the county that sitting on the couch is a crime.
In today's Insider:
Rebels & Redcoats take over Piney Point.
The Rex has two completely different nights going.
Lyon Family Farms brings back adults-only Date Night.
And Blue Wind Gourmet is probably two miles from your office and you've never been in.
Let's get into it.

🙌 Community Win
Southern Maryland finally has its own youth baseball and softball podcast.
The Dugout Podcast launched this spring through the Southern Maryland Youth Baseball and Softball Coalition. It’s local voices from St. Mary’s Little League covering leagues, players, and what’s happening on the fields right now. If your kid’s in a spring season, this is an easy add. ⚾
🏡 Around the County
Nicolet Skatepark | Now Open | Nicolet Park, Lexington Park | After a long build, the Nicolet Skatepark is finally open. The whole place was redone, and it looks legit. If you’ve got a kid who’s been waiting on this or you skate yourself, it’s worth going to check it out this week.
Vida Flow Wellness Yoga Studio Grand Opening | Saturday, April 11 | 10 AM to 2 PM | Leonardtown | Leonardtown is getting a new yoga studio this weekend. Vida Flow is opening with a ribbon cutting at 10. Expect tours, a look inside the space, and a chance to see if it’s your kind of spot. Worth a stop if you've been looking for a local studio or just want to see what they're about.
⭐ The Top Pick
Rebels & Redcoats: A Southern Maryland Revolutionary War Family Event | Saturday, April 11 & Sunday April 12 | 10 AM to 4 PM | Piney Point Lighthouse Museum
Two full days of Revolutionary War reenactments right on the water. You’ll see live encampments, musket demos, and people actually living the part. Food trucks and beer are on site, so you can stay for a while without leaving. If you have kids or just dig historic battles, this is a no-brainer.
After it wraps at 4, Tavern night runs from 5 to 8. Expect themed songs, stories and a whole lot more. Tickets are separate but it turns the afternoon into a full day.
👨👩👧 Family & Community
Coastal Arts Market | Saturday, April 11 | 9 AM to 3 PM | Leonardtown Wharf Park | Local artists and makers set up right on the water. Easy morning with the kids, and downtown lunch is right there if you want to turn it into a half-day in Leonardtown.
29th Annual Run & Fun Walk for Hospice | Saturday, April 11 | 10K at 8:30 AM, 5K/Fun Walk at 8:45 AM | Leonard Hall Drive, Leonardtown | A well-attended community run that gets the whole Leonardtown corridor moving early. The Fun Walk is low-key and easy. Worth showing up even if you’re just walking.
Renegade Monster Trucks | Saturday, April 11 | 12:30 PM and 6 PM | Potomac Speedway, Mechanicsville | Two shows on Saturday. Big trucks, dirt, engine noise, kids completely losing their minds. You don't need me to sell this one harder than that.
Battle by the Bay Truck & Tractor Pull | Saturday, April 11 | Gates 4 PM, Pull 6 PM | St. Mary's County Fairgrounds | Classic fairgrounds Saturday night energy. Around here, this counts as a perfectly good Saturday night and nobody's arguing.
Analog Pop-Up Market | Sunday, April 12 | 1 PM to 5 PM | Slice House, Leonardtown | It’s a curated vendor market with vintage clothing, records, artwork, books, and more. Laid-back feel, NY-style pizza, and one of the better craft beer selections in the County.
Pages in the Park | Sunday, April 12 | 1 PM | Port of Leonardtown Park & Kayak Launch | The Mobile Library is hosting a drop-in reading gathering down at the Port. Bring a book, bring a blanket, and just sit outside with other bookworms. It’s exactly as low-key as it sounds, and that’s the whole point.
SOMD Cars & Coffee | Sunday, April 12 | 8 AM to 11 AM | 46315 Alton Lane, California | This one’s been building a solid crowd. You’ll see everything from old-school muscle to newer performance cars lined up across the lot. Grab a coffee, walk around, and just hang out. Get there early if you want a good spot.
🍷 Date Night
Adults Only: Date Night on the Farm | Friday, April 10 | Evening | Lyon Family Farms, Mechanicsville | No kids, a farm setting at night, and a built-in reason to actually get dressed up on a Friday. Check their page for details and to grab a spot before it fills.
Vine & Swine: Meet the Maker Experience | Friday, April 10 | Xella Winery, Mechanicsville | Wine with the people who made it, at the place where they made it. Relaxed pace and good conversation. A real Friday night without needing to go anywhere loud or crowded.
Craft Your Own Cocktails Class | Thursday, April 9 | 6 PM | Quality Street Kitchen, Leonardtown | A guided cocktail-making session with bites included. Way more fun than staring across a table at each other over the usual appetizer spread.
Petals and Paints Workshop | Saturday, April 11 | Sunnyside Florals, Clements | Floral arranging and painting at a working flower farm. Quiet, unhurried, and genuinely different from your usual Saturday.
Outdoor Clay Date | Sunday, April 12 | 1 PM | Annmarie Sculpture Garden, Solomons | A guided outdoor clay session inside the sculpture garden. More interesting than your average Sunday and worth the short drive down to Solomons.
🎶 Night Out
Emo Throwdown | Friday, April 10 | Doors 7 PM | The Rex Theatre, Leonardtown | A full night of pop-punk and emo at the Rex. Paramore, Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects territory. It’s an excuse to break out the black clothing you wore in high school.
LSM Night: The Evasons Mentalist Duo + DJ Dance Party | Saturday, April 11 | 8 PM to 1 AM | The Rex Theatre, Leonardtown | A mentalist act runs the first half of the night, then a DJ takes it through 1 AM. A good reason for downtown Leonardtown to stay lively well past midnight.
Latin Dance Night: 1-Year Anniversary Fiesta | Thursday, April 9 | Around 7 PM | La Vida, California | Soundwaveexperience is marking a full year of Latin Dance Nights and doing it the right way, with Latin music and Salsa dancing. Real energy on a Thursday night.
Blue Wind Gourmet | Lexington Park
Most people drive past this without realizing what's inside. Blue Wind is part café, part gourmet market, with sandwiches, wine, global beer, Peet's Coffee, and Black Point Chocolatier all sharing the same space. The sandwiches are genuinely good. Better for a slow lunch, a good coffee stop, or a quick chocolate run. If you work anywhere near Lexington Park and haven't been in yet, fix that this week.
